Short Stories & Pictures

The Little Girl and The Tiny Doll
By: Aingelda and Edward Ardizzone
In this short story its mainly about a little girl that receives this doll as a gift but she thinks its ugly and dumb so she abandons the doll and leaves it sit alone.

The Garden Discovered
By: Frances Hodgson Burnett
I just thought taking a picture of this rose was a good symbol for the short story called "The Garden Discovered"; because of the garden and beauty of itself the rose was a decent symbol.

Looking through my little brothers short stories that he keeps in his room i found a book based on the scooby doo t.v show and when i saw this van walking around Lake Geneva i immediately had to use this for my last picture. i thought it was funny seeing a van painted exactly like the mystery inc van from scooby doo.

Stephen Shore

Stephen Shore was born in 1947 in New York City. He is an American photographer that is known mostly for his deadpan image if banal scenes taken of objects in the United States, and for his pioneering use of color in art photography. Stephen was interested in photography from an early age, he was self-taught when he received a photographic darkroom kit at age six. His Career began at early at the age of fourteen, when he had shown his photographs to Edward Steichen, then curator of photography at the Museum of Modern Art. Recognizing Stephens talent, he bought three of his works. Then in 1971, at the age of 24, Stephen Shore became the second living photographer to have a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Stephen Shore Then started on a series of cross-country trips, making "on the road" photographs of American and Canadian landscapes.
Stephen Shore believes that he has more so been influenced with modern technology than by any single photographer.
Most of the the pictures that he takes seem to be more of the everyday common things you may see but wouldn't really think of taking a picture of, and i think he does that a lot with his work but its still interesting to look at even if his pictures are some what ordinary.

Richard Misrach

Richard Misarch is an American photographer that was known for his photographs of human intervention in landscapes. He was born in Los Angeles, California in 1949. Robert Misrach graduated from the University of California in 1971. He was one of the first artists to explore the possibilities of the large-scale color prints and one of the first to focus his politicized art on modern society's. His art is represented in more than fifty major museum collections around the world.
He focuses a lot of his photographs on the beach scene.
His photographs are very beautiful and well done they catch the eye and make them interesting to look at.
The ocean/Beach scenes are fun and attractive to the eye. I really like his art after looking through some of it. All of it is very interesting and enjoyable to see. Most of his photographs have attractive scenes to make the photograph easy to look at. His art is very well done and I certainly like it.

Attractive/Repulsive :)

My first attractive/repulsive i did rotten banana's.
I think the picture turned out ok and even though rotten banana's are repulsive they can have a somewhat of an attraction to the way the yellow pops on the dark brown of the banana.

For my second Attractive/Repulsive i choose to do a sunset and even though the sunset itself is attractive and beautiful in my opinoin the snow is the repulsive in this photo. I think the snow ruins the beauty in the photograph and if it was replaced by grass it would be a more complete attractive picture.

Photo Montages

Its A long Way

I also am pretty happy with the way this montage turned out. I took a picture of the sky on a cloudy day and put it into the background and played with the colors a bit more to make the blue stand out, and then i believe the blue clouds ended up being my main focus point in the photo. Afterwards i also put in a picture of a car that i took a picture of and made it look like it was driving down the path. I do like the way this one turned out when i was all done its not my favorite but i am happy with it.

The Path Isnt As Bright As You'd Hope For
I really like the way this montage turned out, its my first montage and out of the others i have did i think it is my favorite. i like how i put the background as black and white and made the one sign kind of pop, being my main focus point. It stands out more being the one bit of color in the photo. I then added in a tree and railroad to the photo to make it more interesting and something more to look at. I like how that ended up turning out. The tree was the hardest for me to do, after taking the picture i had to cut out a lot of the original background for the tree and doing that alone took me about an hour to do. Although it was a long process i enjoyed doing it to see the outcome of it after i was done. So over all i do like this photo a lot and i think i did a decent job on it.

When Theres Nothing Else To Do
I don't like this one as much as the first two that i did. It was kind of a weird idea that poped into my head one day and i wanted to see if i could make it look decent. Although it didn't turn out anything like i had hoped for. I wanted to do more with the photo because i believe that the way it is right now i kind of boring. When i first took this picture i took multiples from different angles and in different settings so when i went to put the second hop scotch picture into it i liked it at first but then later looking it it now i relize its not that interesting and its kind of boring. Its my second least favorite but i guess it turned out somewhat decent even though i wish i could have done more with it.

Season Mix Up

This one is probably my least favorite because i had an original idea to do something with the snow and grass together and when it finally did snow i kind of lost the thoughts that i had originally had with the photo. i don't think it turned out very well and it dosent look all that real or realistic. I think i could have done better on this photo i just couldn't remember my earlier thoughts on what i was going to do with it. So overall i think this was my worst montage and i wish i coud have done better with it.
